Painting of Marciana Marina, anon.

The beautiful village of Marciana Marina on the island of Elba has been the site of three "Workshops on Neural Networks: From Biology to High Energy Physics". They were sponsored by the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Research (INFN), the Italian Institute of Health (ISS), and the European Community (EC). The most recent workshop was organized by Daniel Amit (INFN Roma), Carlo Bosio (INFN Roma), Paolo del Guidice (ISS Roma), Bruce Denby (INFN Pisa), Edmund Rolls (Oxford), and Alessandro Treves (SISSA Trieste). The workshops bring together researchers from both neuroscience and high energy physics to discuss new developments in the field and and ways of applying them to high energy physics. Proceedings are available for the 1991 and 1992 workshops and those for the 1994 workshop will be available in the Spring of 1995.
